The 2021 Conference Planning Team and the IASL Executive Committee have announced that the IASL 2021 Annual Conference will be a virtual event next July, with the possibility of adding face-to-face meetings, if feasible. We’re excited that registration fees will be lower, opportunities for participation will be higher, and our interactions will globally impact school librarianship as a truly “Rich Tapestry of Practice and Research Around the World”

“Everything’s bigger in Texas” so the 2021 Conference Planning Team is investigating ways that all attendees can view real-time and recorded presentations, participate in live discussions in every time zone, and connect with one another as we share research and best practices toward future collaborations. Watch the conference website ( for updates on registration and the call for additional papers. If your presentation was accepted during the 2020 review, you don’t need to reapply.

The pandemic has changed much, but it hasn’t changed how much our students and communities need our expertise and skills as we navigate this new world together. A reminder that you can contribute to the “Fifty More” campaign by visiting and your donation will be matched by an anonymous donor to replace essential IASL income lost due to the 2020 Conference postponement.

For our 50th birthday celebration next year, I invite you to experience our signature blend of learning and camaraderie from the comfort and safety of your own home/office during July 2021.

Stay safe, stay well, and stay connected!
